Rank in Class - Rank in class is determined by CGPA and will
used for the purposes of:
Reporting to Texas colleges and universities for automatic
admission.
Reporting to all colleges if students are in the top quartile.
Reporting to all colleges and universities or other
institutions for scholarship applications.
Determining Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
At the parents request

Rank in Class - Rank in class is determined by CGPA and will
used for the purposes of:
Reporting to Texas colleges and universities for automatic
admission.
Reporting to all colleges if students are in the top quartile.
Reporting to all colleges and universities or other
institutions for scholarship applications.
Determining Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
A student’s class rank will be made available to the student
or the student’s parent, upon request.
PROPOSED POLICY
CHANGE
Rank in Class - Rank in class is determined by CGPA and will
used for the purposes of:
Obtaining automatic admission to Texas public
universities based upon the uniform admission policy and
in accordance with the Texas Education Code. This
information will be reported directly to institutions by
Westlake Academy staff.
Determining Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
Outside of the above circumstances, Westlake Academy is a
non-ranking high school.
RATIONALE FOR
PROPOSED CHANGES
Abide by the uniform admission policy in accordance
with the Texas Education Code
Ensure that WA students are holistically reviewed
throughout the college admission process
Maintain consistent messaging throughout the college
admission/scholarship evaluation process
Minimize the access point of information so to not
adversely impact WA students throughout the college
admission/scholarship evaluation process
Maintain the virtues of being a non-ranking high school
